BMW Headlights

BMW to offer laser headlights within next few years.
We've got good news for you if you've found your life suspiciously lacking in lasers. BMW plans to unveil new lighting technology within the next two to three years that uses highly focused beams of light to illuminate a dark road, according to Inside Line. The news comes courtesy of Hanafi Abdul, an optical systems designer for BMW, who said that a system using a photonic process to create white light is currently ready for production and awaiting the correct application.
A version of the technology has already bowed on the i8 Concept, thought Abdul said that the laser lighting system could arrive in dealerships before the production i8 heads to market in 2013.
The process uses Gallium Nitride to create blue light, which is then converted to white light with the help of a phosphor disc. So, why go laser? BMW claims that the system is 1,000 times brighter and 100 times smaller than traditional LED lighting while being twice as efficient. The system is said to have an average life span of around 10,000 hours.

Hamann 6 Series

Hamann has a knack for taking already impressive-performing vehicles and turning up the heat a few degrees. The styling choices along the way are hit or miss, but the vehicles always turn heads. One of the tuning company's latest vehicles is the Hamann 6 Series Cabriolet, which is quite clearly a BMW 6 Series with a host of upgrades.
The most notable change Hamann has made lies under the hood. Power output is up to 510 horses and the Hamann quad-tip stainless BMW exhaust will make sure you hear every single one of them. Hamann also added an aggressive body kit to go with the angered-up engine note, and bolted on a set of 21-inch matte black forged alloy wheels. Lowering the 6 Series by 30 millimeters also adds to the sporty air of this droptop.
For the second generation of the

BMW 6 Series Cabriolets, HAMANN-Motorsport will present fascinating customization options at the 64th International Motor Show, the IAA in Frankfurt, Germany The difference between the standard production and HAMANN's customization can be seen at first glance: More dynamic, more style, and clearly more exclusivity, this is how the HAMANN Cabriolet presents itself when compared with the production model.

BMW 6 Series GranCoupe

It looks like is out to broaden the 6 Series range. A spy videographer managed to lay lenses on a very camouflaged version of the big 6 with two extra doors. Specifics on the 6 Series GranCoupe are sparse at the moment, though odds are that the suits at BMW are taking aim at the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class with the new model. Does BMW need yet another sedan in its mix? More importantly, does the world need another coupe-like four door? All we can say is that the world doesn't need bourbon, either, but it sure makes the place a little more interesting.
The same can be said for vehicles with limited niche appeal. At this point, your guess is as good as ours when it comes to the vehicle's launch date, but given that engineers are already logging miles on public streets, we wouldn't put the 6 Series GranCoupe more than two years from production.
BMW tunes in the very best of sport and luxury, mixing them both together to create a roster that still continues to dominate. Pushing the envelope, so to speak, is sometimes an obstacle. Everywhere you look, it seems there are just way too many options. Ignore them for a moment. Use tunnel vision. While there might be a host of beautiful modifications you can make, custom BMW Spoilers never disappoint. And that is because of the versatility a BMW Spoiler presents. It doesn’t necessarily have to say “street racer” or appear as some Gen-X upgrade. One can also provide an enhanced suggestion of luxury, taste. There is no fancy guessing-game involved here. To achieve the look you desire, all you have to is find the style that matches your vehicle best!
CARiD.com makes the entire process easy on you. When you click on your Model Name shown above, you’ll soon find yourself knee-deep in our inventory of Rear Spoilers, Lip Spoilers, and Rear-Roof Wings, all primed and ready to meet your demands. Painted, unpainted – it doesn’t matter! A BMW Spoiler makes it clear you enjoy riding with stand-alone status. We’ll help you choose the dynamic piece that makes a singular difference.

2012 BMW F30 3-series

What a weekend! First spyshots of the new M3, then had the first leak of the Performance Concept 1-series and now this:
An eagle eyed tipster managed to take the first (albeit blurry) shots of the new BMW 3-series sedan (F30). From what can be seen in those photos it will be a very handsome and evolutionary design. The front appears sporty yet elegant and -- to the relief of many -- the headlights are sleeker and smaller compared to the F20 1-series. The rear clearly shows a family resemblance to the F10 5-series, yet the rearlights are somewhat different at the outer edges to make for a unique look.
As with the F20, the side turn indicators are now integrated into the mirros. There appears to be some badging at the front quarter panel where the side indicators used to sit. This makes us believe that BMW will introduce design lines for the new 3-series as well. The F20 1-series is available with Urban and Sport design lines, we expect the F30 3-series to sport similar design lines.
The exterior color seen here is called Mineral Gray (update: it's said to be Sparkling Bronze instead). The interior of this particular car seems to be grey or beige. Interestingly, both dashboard and steering wheel have the same color. BMW actually seems to be repeating its past with their fully colored interiors of past days (also seen on F30 long wheel base prototypes meant for China). These shots also show that Head Up Display will finally make its way to the 3-series, as well as the free-standing iDrive screen following the design scheme introduced with the F12/3 6-series.
F30 begins production in November 2011. The 2012 Model Year will run until June 2012, upon which point it will switch to the 2013 Model Year. Sales will begin in Europe around the time of its world public premiere at the 2011 Geneva show - in March, 2012. US sales should begin next Spring.
The F30 3-series will debut as 328i and 335i models. The 328i will be powered by the 'N20' turbo 4-cylinder inline engine (as found in the Z4 28i and 2012 528i, and the 335i by a turbo 6-cylinder inline motor).
BMW will officially pull the wraps off of the new 3-series in November, but we wouldn't be surprised if more leaks would occur in the meantime. Stay tuned and be sure to follow our complete coverage on the new 3-series: http://www.bimmerpost.com/3-series/f30/

BMW News

BMW is apparently the Ultimate Selling Machine. The German automaker has retained the title of top luxury brand after its most successful July in history, moving 108,721 units for the month. Overall sales are up 17.9 percent for the entire BMW Group through the first seven months of the year.
One of the BMW products moving off lots quickly is the redesigned X3. Sales of the compact crossover rose 193.2 percent, which equates to 9,763 units finding a new home in July. The X5 also helped total volume numbers by improving 51.7 percent in July, with 24,196 examples sold.
With 106,000 total sales in July, Audi isn't very far behind, and it hopes to stand in the top spot ahead of BMW by 2015. BMW is aiming for 1.6 million in sales this year, while Audi is shooting for 1.2 million. Mercedes-Benz came in at number three with 100,391 units sold in July.

2012 BMW X1 M Sport Package

The BMW X1 has been on the loose for over a while now in Europe, but it won't be found on the streets here in the U.S. until later this year, likely as a 2012 model instead of the expected 2011 tag. As we wait patiently for BMW's smallest crossover yet (if you don't count the MINI Countryman, that is) we have these fresh new spy shots of what appears to be an X1 in M Sports garb, nearly undisguised. The package itself has already been revealed, but, like the X1 itself, is not yet on sale in the U.S. These spy shots may indicate it's still being tweaked for American consumption.
The M Sports treatment is a familiar and popular option amongst Bimmerphiles. Dressing a vehicle up with flashier, more aggressive aerodynamic work, unique badging, typically some interior upgrades, and in some cases, a tauter, more sport-tuned suspension, the M Sports package bridges the gap between BMW's standard vehicles and their slightly unhinged M variants.
We expect the treatment for the 2012 X1 to follow this pattern closely. As the spy shots reveal, the X1 M Sport will likely get a new front, side, and rear aero package, and though this prototype isn't wearing them, we'd expect optional larger alloys to better fill in those big wheel wells. From the shape of the rear bumper cutouts, don't expect any quad-tip, dual-outlet exhausts for the X1, though.
We'll keep you posted as more images of the X1 M Sport surface, but for now, pore over these shots and let us know if you can spot any other differences in the comments below.

BMW M3 CRT.

BMW has introduced the new M3 CRT – Carbon Racing Technology. The car is based on M3 E90 (Saloon) and includes some very special features like … a lot of carbon fiber and brutal price.
Actually, this is a lightweight version of E90 M3, which follows the previously revealed M3 GTS Sedan Concept. The saved weight is not much – 45 kg (100 lbs) or totally 1580 kg, but practically the car feels much more faster and it is.
BMW has installed carbon fiber hood, seats and roof as well as the titanium exhaust. There are also hood vents, fender side blades and a carbon fiber boot lid spoiler. The interior boasts special rear seats, door sills and door panels from BMW carbon fiber and some aluminum trim.
The engine is the well-known 4.4 liter V8 based on the 4.0-litre power unit found in the standard M3. The maximum power is 450PS (331 kW) and 440Nm of torque. The engine is mated to the 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) with adapted shift characteristics. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.4 seconds and the top speed is 290 km/h (180 mph). Just a perfect performance.
M3 CRT stands on 19” aluminum wheels fitted with 245/35 ZR19 tires at the front and 265/30 ZR19 at the rear. The braking system includes 378 x 32mm at the front and 380 x 28mm out back with 6-piston calipers.
Simply great car, but the price for this pleasure is just brutal – 130 000 Euro.
