BMW 3 Series Touring

The BMW 3 Series Touring is due to go on sale in the UK this September, priced from £29,380.
Based on the recently launched 3 Series saloon, the Touring shares that car’s front-end aesthetic but swaps the saloon profile for a gently sloped, stretched roofline with extended glazing.
BMW enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the trademark ‘Hofmeister kink’ is present and correct, emphasising the car’s rear-wheel-drive layout.
Initially there will be three engines to choose from, with more becoming available after the car’s market debut. The diesel line-up consists of a 2.0-litre 184bhp engine, badged 320d, and a 3.0-litre, straight-six with 258bhp, labelled 330d.
The sole petrol option at launch will be the 328i. Utilising a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit, it develops 245bhp – more power than the larger (and thirstier) six-cylinder 325i and 330i models of the previous generation.
The reduction of engine sizes has had positive effects on fuel consumption and emissions. The petrol unit will manage a combined 41.5mpg and emit 159g/km of CO2, while the UK favourite 320d is particularly parsimonious, sipping fuel at a rate of 60.1mpg (61.4 with the optional automatic gearbox) and emitting 124g/km (122 with the auto).
Inside, the focus has been on practicality, with the boot now 35 litres bigger than the previous generation, at 495 litres. Fold the 40:20:40 split seats down and the load space increases to a cavernous 1,500 litres – the best in class.
Thought has been given to how the 3 Series Touring is to be used too. The boot comes with a myriad of nets and cubby holes, the front door bins have been re-designed to accept large drinks bottles, and the optional storage package includes a reversible boot floor, with a protective coating for carrying wet or dirty items.
The tail-gate is electrically operated as standard, and there’s also an optional Smart Opener, which opens the rear hatch with just a strategic waggle of the foot under the rear bumper.
The interior is unchanged from the saloon and the Touring will come in the same trim levels: ES, SE, Sport, Modern, Luxury and M Sport. Each give subtle alterations, both inside and out, with not just equipment, but design differences giving the car a vastly different feel.
Even entry level ES models are competitively specced, including 17-inch ally wheels, chrome tail-pipe trim, automatic boot opening, automatic air-con, BMW professional radio with 6.5-inch colour screen, keyless start, cruise control and a USB audio interface.
BMW’s Driver Performance Control module is also fitted as standard, allowing drivers to customise various attributes between a sport and comfort bias. It also includes an ECO PRO mode, which governs the on-board systems, as well as the throttle mapping, to give the best possible fuel consumption.
The 3 Series is considered to be among BMW’s most cherished models, so keeping up with the profile remains a vital responsibility. CARiD.com will help you take charge the right way with our vaunted selection of BMW 3 Series Spoilers that are bound to engage a response. 2011 BMW X1

In BMW-speak, Sports Activity Vehicle or SAV, is the functional equivalent of crossover SUV. BMW's SAVs use car-type unibody structures, feature raised ride heights, and stay true to BMW's core value of excellent handling.  The first BMW SAV, the X5, was released as a 2000 model. The second, the X3, debuted as a 2004 model. Starting in early 2011, BMW will add a third SAV, the X1.
The 2011 BMW X1 will be positioned below the X3 in both size and price. With its smaller size, the X1 is sure to be more nimble than the other BMW SUVs. BMW says the X1 will come with high-precision power steering and high-performance brakes.
Like the X3, the X1 will offer seating for five, but it will be about 4.5 inches shorter on a wheelbase about 1.5 inches shorter. Cargo capacity will be 16.8 cubic feet with the 40/20/40 split rear seats up, and 47.3 cubic feet with the seats folded down.
Initially, the 2011 BMW X1 will be offered as one model called xDrive28i. BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system will be standard. The lone engine will be a 3.0-liter inline-6 making 258 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 228 pound-feet of torque at 2600 rpm. BMW says 0 to 60 will arrive in 6.8 seconds. To improve fuel economy, the X1 will feature Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start-Stop, and a gearshift point indicator.
Equipment and features are sketchy at this time, but the X1 will come standard with such safety features as six airbags, tire-pressure monitor, traction control, electronic stability control and adaptive brake lights. The X1 has achieved the highest rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, which bodes well for its IIHS and NHTSA crash scores on this side of the pond.
Optional equipment will consist of a Panorama glass roof, Xenon headlights, Adaptive Headlights with a High-Beam Assistant, a USB interface, and Performance Control, which applies brakes on the inside wheels in corners to help rotate the vehicle and give it a sportier character.
It is unclear if BMW's iDrive control interface will be standard, but it will come with models equipped with the optional navigation system. Now easier to use in its fourth generation, iDrive provides a central interface for controlling the entertainment, navigation, communication and climate functions.
Look for the 2011 BMW X1 xDrive28i early in 2011. More engine options may follow, including a diesel, and BMW may make a rear-drive model available as well.

2012 BMW X3

The interior of the 2012 BMW X3 is welcoming, with tasteful surfaces and a tidy arrangement of components. Dark dashboard moldings contrast with lighter lower sections and carpet colors.  High-grade wood trim accents are used sparingly on the center console, door cappings and above the glovebox. The view out the windscreen is commanding. Big mirrors provide a good spread of rearward visibility to deal with the inevitable blind spots that occur in cars with vertical D-pillars. A fourth-generation iDrive Multimedia controller keeps control-button proliferation to a minimum, and the dashboard looks tidy and organized.
In a class that puts sporty performance before practicality, the 2012 BMW X3 offers good cargo and passenger space. With the second row in place, the X3 has 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space. With all seats folded, there is 56.6 cubic feet of space.
The BMW Mobile Office system can provide calendar updates while you’re on the road, making it easy to keep the entire family on schedule.
When it comes to BMW X3 Wood Grain it’s all about options. Choices. You not only have to choose the finish you find most attractive, but you also have to decide what “matches” your Beemer’s dash configuration. It’s a fun process that allows your creativity to bloom. 2012 BMW 1-Series

2012 BMW 1-series. The baby Bimmer is destined to be replaced in 2013 with an evolution of the current model. We were surprised to see the 1 Series M introduced late in 2011 as a 2011 model, with no 2012 model to speak of. The incredibly spry 1 Series M with 335 bhp has come and gone too quickly. We're left with the last naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-6 in the 128i; the engine will be replaced by a new 2-liter turbo four in the next generation. Updated last year with an optional 7-speed dual-clutch DCT transmission and single-turbo 3-liter I-6 N55 engine, the top-of-the-line 135i is still plenty of fun on the back roads. The 1 remains available as a coupe or convertible with a power-retractable cloth top, and there is hope the next generation will bring a 5-door to the U.S.
Whether you plan to improve your vehicle's performance or simply want to add some flare to its style, we store a comprehensive collection of accessories and parts designed specifically for your vehicle. Whatever product you choose, you are guaranteed to get nothing but the premium quality, unrivaled performance, and unique style. Understanding that your vehicle deserves only the top accessories and parts, we carefully handpicked each single item. And be sure all of them are manufactured by the most reputable companies in the industry, so the quality is beyond any doubts.Including grilles, BMW floor mats, chrome trim, and more. If you still are not sure what product to choose, you are welcome to check 45 reviews with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, and define what accessory perfectly fits both your vehicle and your pocket.

BMW 4 Series Convertible

We'll admit, it feels like a typo whenever we write "4 Series," but if BMW is as insistent upon further breaking out its coupes and convertibles from its sedan ranges as we've been hearing, we'll just have to get used to it. The BMW 4 Series is expected to officially kick off when the two-door versions of the new 3 Series are launched, and our spies recently caught a prototype of the new droptop 4 testing in the rain.
There's still lots of cladding under all that swirly paper, but we expect the 4er Convertible's design to mimic that of the new 3 Series, complete with the more squared off headlamps that pinch in toward the dual-kidney BMW grille. Like the outgoing droptop, the 4 Series cabriolet will use a folding hardtop configuration, and engine choices will almost certainly be exactly the same as what's offered in the 3 Series sedan. (428i and 435i – weird.) An M version is also said to be in the cards.
Look for the 4 Series range to debut sometime in 2012.

2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i

2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i. Here is a little riddle! Rear-wheel drive, wind in the hair, aggressiveness, style, unique driving pleasure and 245PS?
Volkswagen Eos? No! Mazda MX-5 Miata? No, again! There is only one answer having all these qualities – 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i. Although the car is not an entirely new model, it received BMW’s brand new 2.0 liter twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine with a nice power of 245PS (180 kW) and a train-pulling 350Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. This new engine replaces the well-known 3.0 liter six-cylinder petrol in 25i and 30i.
2012 Z4 sDrive28i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and still returns a nice 41.5 mpg on combined cycle with emissions below 160 g/km. This is possible thanks to a number of modern technology – Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing and VALVETRONIC variable valve opening. The top speed of the roadster is 250 km/h (155 mph), doesn’t matter whether the roof is up or down.
The latest BMW’s roadster has a lot of advantages over the other rivals, but price will not be one of them. Stay tuned for more details and full pricing list of 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive28i.

BMW Headlights

BMW to offer laser headlights within next few years.
We've got good news for you if you've found your life suspiciously lacking in lasers. BMW plans to unveil new lighting technology within the next two to three years that uses highly focused beams of light to illuminate a dark road, according to Inside Line. The news comes courtesy of Hanafi Abdul, an optical systems designer for BMW, who said that a system using a photonic process to create white light is currently ready for production and awaiting the correct application.
A version of the technology has already bowed on the i8 Concept, thought Abdul said that the laser lighting system could arrive in dealerships before the production i8 heads to market in 2013.
The process uses Gallium Nitride to create blue light, which is then converted to white light with the help of a phosphor disc. So, why go laser? BMW claims that the system is 1,000 times brighter and 100 times smaller than traditional LED lighting while being twice as efficient. The system is said to have an average life span of around 10,000 hours.
BMW models are known for having it all: class, performance, comfort, and durability. Everyone knows that already. Sometimes, drivers want more. They want to ride with even more style. And on occasion, they want to light up the night… CARiD presents a full lineup of BMW Projector Headlights that add a rich, exotic texture onto your car’s front-end. Hamann 6 Series

Hamann has a knack for taking already impressive-performing vehicles and turning up the heat a few degrees. The styling choices along the way are hit or miss, but the vehicles always turn heads. One of the tuning company's latest vehicles is the Hamann 6 Series Cabriolet, which is quite clearly a BMW 6 Series with a host of upgrades.
The most notable change Hamann has made lies under the hood. Power output is up to 510 horses and the Hamann quad-tip stainless BMW exhaust will make sure you hear every single one of them. Hamann also added an aggressive body kit to go with the angered-up engine note, and bolted on a set of 21-inch matte black forged alloy wheels. Lowering the 6 Series by 30 millimeters also adds to the sporty air of this droptop.
For the second generation of the

BMW 6 Series Cabriolets, HAMANN-Motorsport will present fascinating customization options at the 64th International Motor Show, the IAA in Frankfurt, Germany The difference between the standard production and HAMANN's customization can be seen at first glance: More dynamic, more style, and clearly more exclusivity, this is how the HAMANN Cabriolet presents itself when compared with the production model.

BMW 6 Series GranCoupe

It looks like is out to broaden the 6 Series range. A spy videographer managed to lay lenses on a very camouflaged version of the big 6 with two extra doors. Specifics on the 6 Series GranCoupe are sparse at the moment, though odds are that the suits at BMW are taking aim at the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class with the new model. Does BMW need yet another sedan in its mix? More importantly, does the world need another coupe-like four door? All we can say is that the world doesn't need bourbon, either, but it sure makes the place a little more interesting.
The same can be said for vehicles with limited niche appeal. At this point, your guess is as good as ours when it comes to the vehicle's launch date, but given that engineers are already logging miles on public streets, we wouldn't put the 6 Series GranCoupe more than two years from production.
BMW tunes in the very best of sport and luxury, mixing them both together to create a roster that still continues to dominate. Pushing the envelope, so to speak, is sometimes an obstacle. Everywhere you look, it seems there are just way too many options. Ignore them for a moment. Use tunnel vision. While there might be a host of beautiful modifications you can make, custom BMW Spoilers never disappoint. And that is because of the versatility a BMW Spoiler presents. It doesn’t necessarily have to say “street racer” or appear as some Gen-X upgrade. One can also provide an enhanced suggestion of luxury, taste. There is no fancy guessing-game involved here. To achieve the look you desire, all you have to is find the style that matches your vehicle best!
CARiD.com makes the entire process easy on you. When you click on your Model Name shown above, you’ll soon find yourself knee-deep in our inventory of Rear Spoilers, Lip Spoilers, and Rear-Roof Wings, all primed and ready to meet your demands. Painted, unpainted – it doesn’t matter! A BMW Spoiler makes it clear you enjoy riding with stand-alone status. We’ll help you choose the dynamic piece that makes a singular difference.

2012 BMW F30 3-series

What a weekend! First spyshots of the new M3, then had the first leak of the Performance Concept 1-series and now this:
An eagle eyed tipster managed to take the first (albeit blurry) shots of the new BMW 3-series sedan (F30). From what can be seen in those photos it will be a very handsome and evolutionary design. The front appears sporty yet elegant and -- to the relief of many -- the headlights are sleeker and smaller compared to the F20 1-series. The rear clearly shows a family resemblance to the F10 5-series, yet the rearlights are somewhat different at the outer edges to make for a unique look.
As with the F20, the side turn indicators are now integrated into the mirros. There appears to be some badging at the front quarter panel where the side indicators used to sit. This makes us believe that BMW will introduce design lines for the new 3-series as well. The F20 1-series is available with Urban and Sport design lines, we expect the F30 3-series to sport similar design lines.
The exterior color seen here is called Mineral Gray (update: it's said to be Sparkling Bronze instead). The interior of this particular car seems to be grey or beige. Interestingly, both dashboard and steering wheel have the same color. BMW actually seems to be repeating its past with their fully colored interiors of past days (also seen on F30 long wheel base prototypes meant for China). These shots also show that Head Up Display will finally make its way to the 3-series, as well as the free-standing iDrive screen following the design scheme introduced with the F12/3 6-series.
F30 begins production in November 2011. The 2012 Model Year will run until June 2012, upon which point it will switch to the 2013 Model Year. Sales will begin in Europe around the time of its world public premiere at the 2011 Geneva show - in March, 2012. US sales should begin next Spring.
The F30 3-series will debut as 328i and 335i models. The 328i will be powered by the 'N20' turbo 4-cylinder inline engine (as found in the Z4 28i and 2012 528i, and the 335i by a turbo 6-cylinder inline motor).
BMW will officially pull the wraps off of the new 3-series in November, but we wouldn't be surprised if more leaks would occur in the meantime. Stay tuned and be sure to follow our complete coverage on the new 3-series: http://www.bimmerpost.com/3-series/f30/

BMW News

BMW is apparently the Ultimate Selling Machine. The German automaker has retained the title of top luxury brand after its most successful July in history, moving 108,721 units for the month. Overall sales are up 17.9 percent for the entire BMW Group through the first seven months of the year.
One of the BMW products moving off lots quickly is the redesigned X3. Sales of the compact crossover rose 193.2 percent, which equates to 9,763 units finding a new home in July. The X5 also helped total volume numbers by improving 51.7 percent in July, with 24,196 examples sold.
With 106,000 total sales in July, Audi isn't very far behind, and it hopes to stand in the top spot ahead of BMW by 2015. BMW is aiming for 1.6 million in sales this year, while Audi is shooting for 1.2 million. Mercedes-Benz came in at number three with 100,391 units sold in July.

2012 BMW X1 M Sport Package

The BMW X1 has been on the loose for over a while now in Europe, but it won't be found on the streets here in the U.S. until later this year, likely as a 2012 model instead of the expected 2011 tag. As we wait patiently for BMW's smallest crossover yet (if you don't count the MINI Countryman, that is) we have these fresh new spy shots of what appears to be an X1 in M Sports garb, nearly undisguised. The package itself has already been revealed, but, like the X1 itself, is not yet on sale in the U.S. These spy shots may indicate it's still being tweaked for American consumption.
The M Sports treatment is a familiar and popular option amongst Bimmerphiles. Dressing a vehicle up with flashier, more aggressive aerodynamic work, unique badging, typically some interior upgrades, and in some cases, a tauter, more sport-tuned suspension, the M Sports package bridges the gap between BMW's standard vehicles and their slightly unhinged M variants.
We expect the treatment for the 2012 X1 to follow this pattern closely. As the spy shots reveal, the X1 M Sport will likely get a new front, side, and rear aero package, and though this prototype isn't wearing them, we'd expect optional larger alloys to better fill in those big wheel wells. From the shape of the rear bumper cutouts, don't expect any quad-tip, dual-outlet exhausts for the X1, though.
We'll keep you posted as more images of the X1 M Sport surface, but for now, pore over these shots and let us know if you can spot any other differences in the comments below.

BMW M3 CRT.

BMW has introduced the new M3 CRT – Carbon Racing Technology. The car is based on M3 E90 (Saloon) and includes some very special features like … a lot of carbon fiber and brutal price.
Actually, this is a lightweight version of E90 M3, which follows the previously revealed M3 GTS Sedan Concept. The saved weight is not much – 45 kg (100 lbs) or totally 1580 kg, but practically the car feels much more faster and it is.
BMW has installed carbon fiber hood, seats and roof as well as the titanium exhaust. There are also hood vents, fender side blades and a carbon fiber boot lid spoiler. The interior boasts special rear seats, door sills and door panels from BMW carbon fiber and some aluminum trim.
The engine is the well-known 4.4 liter V8 based on the 4.0-litre power unit found in the standard M3. The maximum power is 450PS (331 kW) and 440Nm of torque. The engine is mated to the 7-speed M dual clutch transmission (M-DCT) with adapted shift characteristics. 0 to 100 km/h takes 4.4 seconds and the top speed is 290 km/h (180 mph). Just a perfect performance.
M3 CRT stands on 19” aluminum wheels fitted with 245/35 ZR19 tires at the front and 265/30 ZR19 at the rear. The braking system includes 378 x 32mm at the front and 380 x 28mm out back with 6-piston calipers.
Simply great car, but the price for this pleasure is just brutal – 130 000 Euro.

BMW 2012 M5

The moment we've all been waiting for is upon us. Well, actually, it came last night when the first batch of images leaked out showing the new BMW M5. But just as it did with its last new vehicle – the new 1 Series hatchback – the Bavarian automaker has followed up with a very full batch of official photos and the details to go along with it.
Since its inception in 1985, the M5 has stood as the definitive European super-sedan. But while the newest iteration may have ditched a couple of cylinders from the model it replaces, it has gained a couple of turbochargers in their stead and a commensurate increase in output to go along with 'em. The 4.4-liter twin-scroll twin-turbo V8, complete with direct injection and variable valvetrain, offers up a whopping 560 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque – about 10 percent more than the outgoing V10, accessible from lower revs to boot. It also does so using less fuel and emitting fewer carbon molecules into the atmosphere, aided by such features as regenerative braking and stop-start ignition.
Driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission complete with launch control and all the electronic do-dads you'd expect from a modern German performance sedan, BMW figures it's good for a 4.4-second sprint to 60, with top speed limited (as many German automobiles are) to 155 miles per hour, though the governor can be relaxed with the optional M Driver's Package for a 190-mph top end. Of course, the M5 isn't all about straight-line speed, packing an Active M electronic multi-plate limited-slip differential and stability control to help get the power down coming out of the corners.
A welcome change from the overly complicated system on the outgoing M5 is the presence of two little buttons on the steering wheel, allowing drivers to pre-program parameters from accelerator response and shift program to chassis control and head-up display, to be recalled at the touch of a button, instead of having to fiddle through an endless array of iDrive menus and options each time. And of course, as you can see from the high-resolution images in our extensive gallery, BMW has given the new M5 all the visual cues – both inside and out – it needs to stand apart from more ordinary 5 Series models.

2011 BMW X6 M.

2011 BMW X6 M, an AW Drivers Log Car Review. EXECUTIVE EDITOR ROGER HART: Each time I see and drive this BMW X6 M, I seriously wonder just who the audience is. Really? A $95,000 sled that weighs in at 5,300 pounds and looks, like, well--let's just say it kind of makes a camel look good.
No question, this M version is fast. The twin-turbo V8 delivers power as smoothly as any powerplant on the market today. But with tires as wide as drag slicks, the X6 M tramlined on the road so bad that I got tired from constantly adjusting the steering to keep this between the ditches.
Yes, it still drives like a BMW--a very big, very heavy and semiquick BMW. But really, who needs or wants a car like this? What is the appeal here? I'm pretty sure I'm not the target audience.
When you look up "compromise" in the dictionary, I wouldn't be surprised to see a photo of this. There are way too many compromises. This car is too heavy to be really quick and too small to really act as an SUV.
ROAD TEST EDITOR NATALIE NEFF: A sports-activity vehicle? Seriously? And this thing costs almost $100,000. Just think of what you could buy for that kind of coin!
Sure, 555 hp is compelling stuff. Really compelling. Like 0-to-60-mph-in-holy-crap-four-and-a-half-seconds kind of compelling. And playing with all of that propulsion is infectious. It's a challenge keeping the right foot properly leashed when all it wants to do is be that person driving way too stupidly fast for the ambient conditions.
Also, yes, the X6 M is noteworthy for its use of a torque-vectoring rear differential. When I drove the beast at Road Atlanta last year, I almost couldn't believe how well the 5,300-pound monstrosity managed to replicate the driving dynamics of a much smaller, lighter BMW. It ate up the track and spit it out again. Fantastic.
And yet this is where the über car geeks get it way, way wrong. Just because it drives awesomely doesn't necessarily mean it's an awesome car.
The whole concept of a coupelike SUV drives me crazy. Why would you buy an SUV only to chop half of the cargo area off? What's the point? To my mind, you buy an X5 M or you just buy a sedan.
What also rankles me is that everyone agrees with me that this thing is, at its core, stupid, but because it drives great, they forgive it. Seriously, guys, driving this vehicle will not make you look cool.

Hartge BMW 6-Series F12.

Hartge BMW 6-Series F12. Hartge has announced that they are preparing a tuning program for the latest BMW 6-Series Convertible (F13). The tuning company didn’t reveal any further information about the project, but as we can see on the pictures, the vehicle won’t get any huge spoilers or bright paint.
The upgrades will include a new sports exhaust system, lowering springs kit, which will reduce the stance of F13 with 30 mm at the front and 25 mm and the rear.
Hartge
6-Series stands on 19” or 21” alloy wheels in the well know design of the tuner.
The interior will receive aluminum Hartge pedals, BMW floor mats with logos and a Hartge emblem on the steering wheel.
As we know, Hartge do some crazy things like putting the mighty 507PS V10 S85B50 from M5 E60 into E90. Hopefully, they do the same, but putting the brutal twin-turbocharged V12 with 544PS and massive 750Nm. It would be madness, but the fans will definitely like it!
Stay tuned for more information about HARTGE F13.

2011 BMW 1 Series M.

Did you pick up your 2011 BMW 1 Series M? If not, you may be paying a lot more for one down the road. The $46,135 German sports coupe will be produced through the end of this year... and then it's done. According to TheDetroitBureau.com, BMW admits that its latest sex toy pumped-up two-door will have a very limited run of one model year. BMW 1 Series M Coupe World Premier
That's not to say we won't see another version on the future. However, it could be several years before that happens, which should make the current (and only) crop of BMW 1 Series M cars quite collectible.
After reading TDB's report, we pressed BMW for some more insight into the matter, and received confirmation that the current 1 Series M is only sticking around for the 2011 model year. The next generation 1 Series is at least two-and-a-half to three years away, which is too much time to speculate on a future 1 Series M. Curious as to how many 2011 1 Series M coupes will be produced? So are we, and BMW can only share that "less than 1,000 units" will be produced in 2011.

BMW M5.

The BMW M5 that debuted at this year's Shanghai Motor Show may have technically been a concept car, but it comes as no surprise to see that the near-production models the German automaker is testing look exactly like the car we saw on stage. For what it's worth, we certainly hope the dark brown paint seen on this prototype will be offered when the M5 hits dealerships. Those blacked-out wheels can stay, too.
As you've no doubt read countless times before, the M5 will be offered with BMW's twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8, packing somewhere north of 480 horsepower. In the United States, both a manual and dual-clutch transmission will be available, and all-wheel drive may be in the cards, as well.
Every driver notices the switch. What starts off as a breeze turns into a howl. You go from effortlessly cruising down the highway to careening in and out of your lane. Wind Deflectors cut down the airstreams and raindrops that hamper your daily travels. BMW 328

BMW 328 Hommage Concept: 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. It was at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy three years ago that BMW unveiled the striking M1 Hommage Concept, and at the same event in 2011 the German automaker is paying tribute to another of its past greats, the legendary 328 sports car of the 1930s.
You may recall that 2011 is the 75th anniversary of the original BMW 328, and in celebration of the milestone BMW is scheduling a number of events including the unveiling the new 328 Hommage Concept.
The concept is described as a modern interpretation of the 1930s-era 328, something--according to BMW, at least--that the designers of the original 328, Fritz Fiedler and Rudolf Schleicher, might have built in the present day using current technology.

Like the original, the design of the 328 Hommage pays special attention to lightweight construction and as such major parts of the concept are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Total curb weight is said to be just 1,720 pounds.
No powertrain details were revealed apart from there being a “powerful” 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine under the hood. We can imagine, however, that with the lightweight carbon fiber body and the same 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque twin-turbocharged mill from the 2011 BMW 1-Series M Coupe, this thing could be a rocket.
Interestingly, the new 328 Hommage isn’t the only lightweight roadster concept BMW has unveiled in the recent past. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show BMW unveiled the Vision ConnectedDrive Concept, a compact roadster with very similar proportions to the latest 328 Hommage, all of which strongly suggests that previous reports of a new ‘Z2’ roadster model in the works at BMW may in fact prove true.
The 2011 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este turned out to be quite the surprise this year, with not only the unveiling of the BMW 328 Hommage taking place, but also the respective debuts of the stunning Aston Martin V12 Zagato and Ferrari Superamerica 45 on the shores of Lake Como as well.
